So you have decided to take that plunge into the abyss of self employment but not sure about what to do yet or maybe you have a handful of ideas and can’t decide on THE one.

It can be a minefield and with so many businesses in as many industries one can find it daunting, but lets take a walk through the valley of options at our disposal.

First things first, most successful business are built on a vision, a purpose that serves to improve or reach out to as many people as possible.  Remember that whatever idea one chooses the more people it appeals to the more chances it has of becoming a success – Think BIG then scale it down.  Business is also hard, so choosing something that one has a passion for, makes it easier to stick with when the going gets tough.

As a child we all had unfettered dreams, but as the realities of life took over, we saw them wilt until our dreams became distant memories.  Now is the time to awaken that dream, get your MOJO back and think of what you enjoyed doing as a child. See if you can rekindle that passion.  You may also have an idea that you have been putting on the back burner for years, decades..waiting the right time.  Why? What are you waiting for? If not now,  when? And if not you, Who? Do you know where the highest number of millionaires live? Keep reading to find out.

Another way to choose a business idea is through research and finding a solution to a problem that people have.  As they say necessity is the mother of invention, and many businesses have been created on the back of a need to solve a problem, such examples include the wright brothers, Google, IBM and even the humble Spanx underwear that has made its creator one of the youngest billionaires of our times.

Also look at whats hot right now and try and re-create that, by adding your own twist. Almost every idea is a plagiarism of someone else’s.  Hotmail took a nap and Facebook raced ahead. Blackberry became complacent and Apple saw the gap.  Be inspired by what is happening around you.  The billionaires of the future are predicted to come from the Health and Beauty, Agriculture and the Training industries.

Whatever it is you choose – Get moving.  You will never be as young as you are now and it’s likely that someone else is also thinking about doing the same thing.  If you don’t try you may end up joining the community which boasts of the highest number of millionaires ever – The GRAVEYARD, more people die with their dreams than take action to follow them.  Just do it!
